1. Eligibility
Eligibility for admission to any class of the Nursery Department is primarily dependent on the age of the child and the distance of the residence of the child from the School.
For the Academic session 2020-21, the age requirement for each class (up to Class II) is given below:
- Nursery I (born between 01 April 2016 to 31 March 2017, both days inclusive)
- Nursery II (born between 01 April 2015 to 31 March 2016, both days inclusive)
- Preparatory (born between 01 April 2014 to 31 March 2015, both days inclusive)
- Class I (born between 01 April 2013 to 31 March 2014, both days inclusive)
- Class II (born between 01 April 2012 to 31 March 2013, both days inclusive)
Application for admission to Nursery II to Class VIII is based on number of seats available. For any queries regarding admission to classes Nursery II to Class VIII please send an email to admission@gardenhighschool.org.
2. Procedure
(a) All necessary papers should be collected from the School Office by paying the requisite charges. The Registration Form, which is also available online, should be submitted, duly filled in, to the School Office or online as soon as possible.
A receipt for the amount paid should be obtained and retained. It must be produced whenever required.
(b) The guardian will be informed of the date and time of the verification of documents after the Registration Form is submitted.
(c) Both the parents of the child should be present at the verification of documents. If for any reason one parent is unable to attend, the School Office should be informed in writing of the fact and the reason thereof well in advance.

All pupils seeking admission to Class IX will be required to sit for an Admission Test. Information regarding eligibility to sit for such a Test should be ascertained from the School Office.
Application for admission to Class IX is based on number seats available. For any queries regarding admission to Class IX please send an email to admission@gardenhighschool.org.
2. Procedure
(a) All necessary papers should be collected from the School Office by paying the requisite charges. The Registration Form, which is also available online, should be submitted, duly filled in, to the School Office or online as soon as possible.
A receipt for the amount paid should be obtained and retained till the Admission Test and interview are over.
Even after making the Prospectus and other papers available to a guardian, the School reserves the right not to register the name of or admit a pupil to the School.
Registration, however, only ensures a call for an Admission Test and does not guarantee admission.
(b) The date of the Admission Test will be intimated in due course.
(c) The list of pupils provisionally selected for admission will be posted on the School Notice Board and the School website. A selected pupil will have to appear for an interview on the date mentioned against his name.
(d) Both the parents of the pupil should be present at the interview.
If for any reason one parent is unable to attend the interview, the School Office should be informed in writing of the fact and the reason thereof well in advance.
Internal Candidates
(a) The CISCE treats the Higher Secondary classes (Year 12 Classes) as a separate unit altogether, requiring fresh registration of pupils and payment of related fees.
(b) Each admission to Class XI will, therefore, be treated as a fresh admission and will necessitate completion of requisite formalities, including payment of an admission fee and other charges.
(c) It must also be clearly understood that admission to Class XI will be in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the CISCE and the recommendations of the Academic Council of the School.
(d) A circular, giving full details regarding subjects offered and admission, will be issued to all pupils at the beginning of the Academic Session of Class IX and Class X.
(e) All admissions to Class XI will be provisional and subject to the conditions specified under Cancellation of Admission to Class XI.
External Candidates
1. Subjects (Compulsory & Electives)
In addition to English (compulsory subject), all pupils of this School will have to take up four elective subjects. This School offers the following as elective subjects, provided at least twenty (20) pupils opt for a particular subject:
(a) Indian Languages: Bengali, Hindi
(b) Science-oriented: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Computer Science/ Economics/Physical Education
(c) Commerce-oriented: Accountancy, Commerce, Business Studies/Mathematics, Economics/Computer Science/Physical Education
2. Admission: Pre-Secondary Examination
A. General Information
A few pupils may be admitted to Class XI even before they appear for their respective secondary examinations. Guardians of external candidates seeking such admission should note the following carefully:
(a) Applicants will have to sit for an Admission Test, all relevant information regarding which will be furnished to them well in advance of the Test.

B. Admission Test: Eligibility
(a) Science: In the Selection Test (Class X) or last examination of the school from which the applicant is due to appear for the secondary or equivalent Public Examination, he must have obtained at least: (i) 75% in the aggregate; (ii) 80% in English; 85% in Mathematics and the Science subjects (combined).
(b) Commerce : In the Selection Test (Class X) or last examination of the school from which the applicant is due to appear for the secondary or equivalent Public Examination, he must have obtained at least: (i) 70% in the aggregate; (ii) 80% in English; 80% in Mathematics.
C. Procedure
(a) All necessary papers should be collected from the School Office by paying the requisite charges. The Registration Form, which is also available online, should be submitted, duly filled in, to the School Office or online as soon as possible.

3. Admission: Post-Publication of Secondary Examination Results
A. General Information
After the results of the secondary examinations conducted by Boards other than the CISCE are published, and depending on the availability of seats, applications for admission to Class XI (Science & Commerce) may be considered, strictly on the basis of merit.
B. Eligibility
Science: In the Final Examination, the applicant must have obtained at least
(i) 95% in the aggregate, (ii) 90% in English, (iii) 90% in Mathematics, and
(iv) 90% in Science.
Commerce: In the Final Examination, the applicant must have obtained at least 90% in the aggregate and in English. If the candidate wishes to take up Mathematics as an elective subject, he must have obtained at least 85% in Mathematics in the Final Examination.
C. Procedure
Same as set out in “Admission: Pre-Secondary Examination” above.
(a) The provisional admission of a pupil will stand automatically cancelled if he fails to pass the secondary examination or equivalent Public Examination he will appear/has appeared for.
(b A pupil, who has passed a secondary or equivalent Public Examination conducted by a recognized board of education other than the CISCE, must produce a Migration Certificate. His admission will be subject to the approval of the CISCE.
(c) The School reserves the right to cancel the admission of a pupil if there is a report of serious misconduct or breach of discipline against him, or if he fails to produce an attested copy of a Character Certificate from the Head of the School he last attended. The decision of the Academic Council of the School in all such cases will be final and binding on the pupil and his guardian/s.
(d) If the admission/provisional admission of a pupil is cancelled by the School on any ground whatsoever within four months of the date of his admission, the liability of the School will be limited only to the extent of refunding the following fees at the rate indicated against each:
- Admission Fee (less an Administrative Charge of INR 5000.00)
- Annual Charges (proportionately*)
- Caution Money Deposit (after deduction of School dues, if any)
- Laboratory Deposit (less charges for breakage, if any)
- Tuition Fees (proportionately*)
- Laboratory Fees (proportionately*)
- Maintenance Fee (proportionately*)
- Development Fee (proportionately*)
*Any broken period will be treated as a month.
(a) In case a guardian wishes to withdraw his ward from the School, he should inform the School in writing at least three months in advance or pay three months fees in lieu thereof.
(b) A Transfer Certificate will be issued only if a guardian applies for it in writing to the Principal, and after due clearance from all the concerned departments of the School has been received.
(c) Once admission is granted to any class, no fee, excepting the Caution Money Deposit and Laboratory Deposit, after adjustment of dues, if any, will be refunded even if the pupil is withdrawn from the School before/without attending a single class.
